Ellas Bully Beef Bobotie 


30ml Oil

1 Medium sized onion, chopped

1 Clove garlic, crushed

15 ml Curry Powder

10 ml  Turmeric

50 ml Fruit Chutney

30ml Grape Vinegar           

3  Bananas, diced

1 can Bully Beef


250 m Milk

2 Eggs, whisked

1 ml Turmeric

pinch Curry Powder


Preheat the oven to 180șC and butter a 23-cm ovenproof dish or spray with nonstick spray.

 Stir-fry the onion and garlic in the heated oil until soft and glossy and add the curry powder and turmeric.

Fry for another minute and add the remaining ingredients, except the topping ingredients. Mix and spoon into the ovenproof dish, spreading evenly.

Beat the topping ingredients together and pour over the meat mixture.Bake for 30 minutes or until the topping has set and is golden brown.

 Cool slightly and serve with rice, chutney and vegetables if desired.

Ellas Bully Beef Curry 


1 can  Bully Beef

15 ml  OIl or Butter

1 medium sized onion, sliced into rings

10  ml  Curry Powder

375 ML Hot water

15 ml  Grape Vinegar

30ml  seedless raisins

1  Green Apple, diced

45  ml  Fruit Chutney

7 ml     Sugar

10 ml  Cornflour, dissolved in a little water

15  mlCream

Salt and freshly ground black pepper 


Remove the fat from the bully beef.

Cut the bully beef into 1-cm squares. 

Heat the oil and sauté the onion rings until tender. 

Add the curry powder and fry for another minute. 

Add the water and vinegar, raisins, diced apple, chutney and sugar, season with salt and pepper, and simmer slowly for 5 minutes. 

Add the diced bully beef and simmer until heated through. 

Thicken the sauce with cornflour paste and simmer for 1 minute. 

Stir in the cream, remove from the stove and serve with rice and vegetables.
